Most people are one or the other.
Here is the catch…
Most people say they are solution oriented but they are really problem oriented.
What do I mean by that?
Even when the answer to a problem is staring most people right in the face, they still find excuses for not making their dreams come true and/or solving their problem.
This is especially true if they tried a solution for a long period of time, had some initial success and then got no positive results later.
It does not seem to matter if somebody want to lose weight, improve their child’s confidence or they need help with their business.
When the average person has failed to reach a goal once they seem to have a default mode that ensures failure in the future.
They start to make excused that are based on their previous experience even if their past experience was absolutely horrible.
This is actually called “Belief Perseverance.”
As soon as I start hearing…
Yeah but my business is different
My situation is different
or my favorite
I tried that before and it didn’t work.
I know the person is headed for more failure and frustration.
Here is the reality
If one person does something then so can you.
If your marketing isn’t working you are probably not following ALL the steps.
If you are not losing weight you are probably trying to take shortcuts somewhere.
Could your business be different?
Could your situation be different?
Could you have tried it before?
Sure – All of these are possible
But if somebody else did XXX why can’t you do XXX?
The answer is YOU CAN
I am FAR from perfect and I have had many business ideas flop, goals missed and plans go by the wayside.
But I can honestly say that far more often then not that my failure was because of my lack of follow up, a lack of guts or basing decisions on emotions and not logic.
Of course I have had a couple incidents in life that seemed out of my control. Those situations even caused miserable failure. However, upon reflection I think I knew better. Basically I foolishly acted on emotion and not on logic.
Yes, a couple of those mistakes really cost me in money, stress, relationships and more.
Yes they were EXTREMELY painful.
We are all going to experience some major setbacks in life. The question is,are you going to let those set back keep you from trying in the future or are you simply going to learn from the mistake?
Learn from those mistakes, no matter how bad they were and move forward with purpose.
Look for solutions not problems for your next adventure.
Quit looking at every little pebble in your way as Mount Everest.
The past does NOT equal the future unless you don’t learn from it! (Tony Robbins I think)
Mount Everest has been climbed you know. It is not impossible.
1. Find a great teacher and learn to climb
2. Hire a great guide who has climbed the mountain before.
3. Plan your trip down to the smallest detail with the guidance of experts who have climbed successfully before – NOT your neighbor or some other internet guru.
4. Implement your plan 100%. Not 80% – 90% or 98% but 100 FREAKING %
Be relentless and know that you will have unforeseen obstacles.
When the obstacles come up then have some GUTS and don’t quit.
